Shan sports her brown hair, dark skin, average (albeit thin) build, and a messy bun that has been even more messed up by recent events.

Identifying Characteristics

The woman could easily be mistaken for a librarian, bookish looking and wearing round glasses over her tired looking eyes and perpetual worrying frown that never seems to leave her face.

Apparel & Accessories

Shan can be seen wearing reddish brown traveler's clothing with a hood and a poncho, along with a few blue threads seen in to fix any tears that match her distinctly blue eyes, which are accentuated by her glasses.

Personal history

For a waterbender living in the Fire Nation, even the luxuries of the Ember Island tourism industry left life a bit rough. Recent years have been kind to Shan; certainly not as daunting as it would have been during the Hundred Year War.

As a result, Shan has felt lonely throughout much of her life, and often looks inward rather than outward, which has left her just a bit more hardened than your average person.

Education

Shan spent her younger years enrolled in traditional Fire Nation school. Despite her love of reading and learning, Shan spent much of her downtime practicing her waterbending with her grandmother.

Employment

Shan left her home in search of work and, as most young folks do, found herself in Ba Sing Se, where she received a lead on a historical discovery and restoration project requesting someone to assist them with bookkeeping.

Like her element water, Shan posses the ability to be agile, and easily conforming in most situations.

However, Shan is occasionally led astray; her desire to belong is strong, whether she's hanging with good or bad people.

Above all, Shan just wants to make enough money, or acquire enough fame, to eventually retire comfortably; she strives to achieve of a life of ease.

Despite her lofty ambitions, she is terrified of pushing herself too far.
