Dragon-Born
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dragon-born look more like their draconic ancestors than their human ones. They are bipedal, meaning that they stand on two legs, usually towering over humans. However, they are scaled with a tale and draconic head, claws, and body. Dragon-born are scaled and often colorful.
Genetics and Reproduction
Early dragon-borns were exactly like their draconic ancestors: In order to have a child, they needed to mate with a dragon that could lay eggs. However, as time progressed and genetics took over, dragon-borns were able to start mating with different species, including humans. When two dragon-borns mate, the gestation period takes about 45 weeks. When having a child with any other species, with the exception of a dragon, the gestation takes longer, at around 55 weeks.
Growth Rate & Stages
Dragon-borns take after their draconic ancestors, meaning that they take a longer time to mature than humans or other species. It takes about five years for dragon-borns to mature to what would be considered a toddler stage. They are not considered 'school age' until about twelve or thirteen, and then they're not considered 'teenage' until they're at least thirty. It isn't until dragon-borns are around one hundred that they're considered full adults. Dragon-borns can live to be over five hundred years old.
Ecology and Habitats
Originally from northern Xolta, dragon-borns have since moved from Xolta to settle into different cities in Xolta and the very north east of the Empire.
