Rift of the Revenant

While undertaking a law degree, Edward 'Ward' Roberts and several of his friends (including Albert Johansson) went camping near the small town of Four Pines. Several nights into the trip, the group was attacked by a savage animal that killed the entire group, or so it as believed.
In truth, Albert had fled the scene, believing that he was responsible, while Ward, barely alive, lay there vowing to get revenge against his so-called friend. This tenacious desire for vengeance kept Ward going long enough for Jacob Roberts, Ward's father and one of the leading scientists at Helix Labs to find him. Ward was airlifted back to the City for surgery but died during transit. Unwilling to give up on his son, Jacob authorised his team at Helix Labs to perform dangerous, experimental operation on his son's body.
A week later, Ward awoke, his arm replaced with an advanced prosthetic, and a prototype power unit in place of his heart. He was, technically, no longer alive, sustained only by his augmentations and regular injections of a unique compound developed by his father.
Ward has given up his dreams of becoming a lawyer and now works with his father at Helix Labs as part of their Field Response Unit. He hasn't forgotten the vow he made, prepares for the day he gets his revenge against Albert.
