Care Centers of Avalon

One of the benefits of being under the United Avalon government is their Care Centers. “Free,” top-of-the-line, medical services provided with no hidden fees or anything of that nature. Along with a grading system, which is accessible by the public, for doctors, nurses, directors, etc., one can feel secure and confident in their healthcare. As long as taxes are paid, these Care Centers will continue to function, and the people of Avalon will continue to thrive under the unification, at least that’s the idea. On the other hand, not being under the UA government leaves you to deal with small, local clinics and hospitals. Which can range from decades old technology and practices, to cutting edge, never before seen technology. Prices vary just as wildly as well. Could be a free, public clinic(very rare), could be a very selective(and expensive), private institution, or anything in between.
Still, as with many things in the UA government, corruption has bled into these Care Centers. Nepotism, general discrimination towards those who are “lesser,” increasing of taxes in order to line the pockets of those in power, predatory bureaucracy that tries to trick or extort patients who don’t know any better or have no real choice, all of this and more has slowly seeped into the Care Centers, causing suffering for both the employees and the patients. Disgruntled people have more frequently been protesting these actions and the corruption that has slowly become more apparent. Unfortunately, the propaganda arm of the UA is much too strong for these protests to really gain any sort of traction without a more concrete direction and organization. Nonetheless, this growing tension is only adding more fuel to the already precarious powder keg that is the UA.
