Kyral
Kyral is a mystic tradition practiced by the Ordish. It serves as the primary religious lens of the Ordish people through which the art of sorcery is understood.
History
Kyral is an ancient tradition practiced on the island of Ordeland, stemming back to prehistory, when Ordeland was comprised of a larger mainland that, according to legend, sank into the sea after an era known as the Lawless Age. It went through numerous phases, beginning as a practice of the elite before the Lawless Age, thenBeliefs
The beliefs of Kyral are rooted in dreams and thoughts, that the mind precedes matter. According to tradition, the world was created by the great tree, which had brought order through its "ancient dream". When a sorcerer enacts their art, they are bending the ancient dream to their will before the dream overrides it. A sorcerer needs two things for their art to function: a connection to the earth and a connection to the dream. The first of those is accomplished by a sorcerer's feet on the ground, while the second is accomplished by a thonkyt, a sorcerer's ritual item. The earth is symbolic of objective reality, and as such, shaping it and its components is a feat reserved for the most powerful of sorcerers. However, metal represents wakefulness, given that it affirms reality, and so it serves as the antithesis to sorcerous arts.Locus
A locus is a center of thought that coalesces within a person's mind. Sorcerers use these loci for their arts, working in tandem together to channel sorcerous power from the ancient dream.Phestala
