Mythology & Lore

Creation and the King of Silence's Sacrifice

At the beginning of time, the King of Silence had a mere thought, and from it, the world appeared into existence. The sun was made from holy fire that came from the King's mouth, and from there, he breathed life into the mud, creating the animals of the earth.

Hyjnitë

The main component of the Church's doctrines surround divine spirits called Hyjnitë (plural for Hyjnia), who serve the King of Silence as his emissaries. It is believed that the Lightbringers were either physical manifestations of these beings or they were merely possessed by them. The Hyjnitë are analogous to lesser gods, but they are not to be worshiped. The only named Hyjnitë are bearers of the Urns of Fealty.   Zjarra - the Illuminous One; the Hyjnia associated with light, the sun, and fire; she holds the Urn of Truth   Vetëti - the Storm's Shepherd; the Hyjnia associated with storms, lightning, the sky, and wind; he holds the Urn of Discernment   Hena - the Shadowed Servant; the Hyjnia associated with darkness, healing, and the moon; he holds the Urn of Compassion   Gëzim - the Hope Bearer; the Hyjnia associated with joy, spring, plants, and life; she holds the Urn of Joy   Hidhërim - the Mourning Witness; the Hyjnia associated with sorrow, winter, beasts, and death; he holds the Urn of Patience

The Divine Speech

While the King of Silence is said to not speak, there is a holy language that is spoken by him and the Hyjnitë, unknowable by normal people. This language has no script, and it is only spoken, namely by the Deacons, who receive visions and recite them to the Witnesses, the Deacons who scribe these visions.
