Personal history

Barron was born in Raleigh, the second largest city in the province of Weigriff. He was the son of a carpenter, and the first born of four children, 3 boys and 1 girl (who was the youngest, and each child about 1-2 years apart). Growing up, Barron was always much taller and larger than kids his age, but he was unusually calm and reserved. His parents were initially concerned that he seemed so distant from other children, but as his younger siblings grew older the parents worries were put to rest, as he seemed to form good relationships with them. While this taught him to be more friendly with others his own age, he was still primarily attached to his younger siblings.   His early teens were the first time he had shown any aggression, which occurred when he had discovered a small group of boys just a year younger than him bullying his two youngest siblings (who were 3 and 5 years younger than himself). Being much larger than most kids his age, he easily subdued the small group of boys and had broken a few of their bones in the process. This had many repercussions for both himself and his parents, eventually causing them to have to move to another side of the city to avoid other hostile parents. After moving, Barron’s father attempted to teach his son the craft of carpentry and have him work as a full time assistant to help pay for some of the debts incurred by the move. Barron returned to his usual reserved self, and for a time never did anything else out of the ordinary.   At the age of 18, to the surprise of his family, Barron quit doing carpentry with his father to join the city watch. Their concerns were quelled quite quickly when they discovered that he was very good at the job, and often praised by his superiors for effectively handling conflicts in the city with minimal violence. According to Barron, this is what he had wanted to do since the day he had intervened to help his siblings escape the bullies. He had realized the power he had compared to the average person and felt compelled to do something good with it. His success in the city watch turned into a career, one that eventually uprooted him to the largest city and capital of Weigriff, Wyndevale. This would be where he stayed until he had a family of his own and until he reached the beginning of his middle years.   Barron was 41 years old when the dead began to rise. At the onset of the attack, the city experienced chaos and darkness beyond his worst nightmares. The spread of dark magic that had awoken the dead caused some people to lose their minds, and between the undead and the insane, much of the city had been lost and quarantined away to prevent total disaster. It took a couple of months to regain order in what was left of the city. At this point, Barron quickly joined up with the military resistance to help combat the growing threat of cultist necromancers that had sprung up from the spread of dark magic. He returned to his home city to find that his family had all survived the ordeal, and he easily convinced them to move to Wyndevale, where he believed them to be safest. He then continued to aid the military’s campaign against the cultists.   After many months of fighting, as well as multiple large scale infiltrations into Wyndevale, he realized that the military of Weigriff was not fit to combat this type of threat. The cultists were cunning and powerful, and would often outsmart and outmaneuver the military. As much as Barron wished to continue fighting for the greater good, he was concerned for the safety of his family. Finally, he decided to desert the military and move north with his family to a far less populated area, where they would be less likely to be under threat, and where he would be far more capable of taking the protection of his family into his own hands. This seemed to be a very common idea amongst the people however, and they found it difficult to find a home amongst the sea of refugees. He was eventually able to secure a home for his family by agreeing to join the watch in the small town of Ashford, where he and his family would stay until a new opportunity arose for Barron.
