Lord-Regent of the Southlands

The Lord-Regent of the Southlands is the second most influential person in the Kingdom as he is the person that sets up the rules for the whole realm. Only the King has more power, as he is still the person that has to approve and sign the laws. The Lord-Regent is usually one of the greater noblemen of the Southlands that was appointed by the King himself. The Lord-Regent is seated in his own manor in Highthrone and generally works either at the Grand Palace or the Great Court.

Career

Qualifications

While there is no set law, usually only noblemen that have the title of a duke or their offsprings are appointed as Lord-Regent. For this, they have to undergo a five-year training program to learn the profession and another three years to learn how to manage many settlements and their inhabitants at once.

Career Progression

Generally, someone that was appointed as the next Lord-Regent starts as an apprentice of the current one. As soon as the present one dies or abdicates the new one is set in charge.

As Lord-Regent you are one of the most influential persons in the realm. You get your own special manor in Highthrone and everyone is trying to get on your good side.
