The Legs

The Legs are long strings of small islands extending northwards from the Big Islands and the Tail. They are geographically closest to the center of Exodesia. There are no major cities in the Legs and only minor towns. Travel and trade through the Legs is risky due to dangerous shoals, tricky ocean currents, and the high volume of pirates in the surrounding area.
For a long time the Legs were not considered their own region and were governed as parts of the Tail and the Big Islands. A lord was elevated to become Governor of the Legs as reward from the king. It is a dubious reward, being considered rather a poor backwater of the kingdom.
Recently, valuable volcanic mineral deposits have been discovered in the Legs, dramatically increasing the interest of both local and foreign prospectors.
