Aenar (eːnɑr)

Aenar, also spelt as Enar (Old Common: ႠႬႠႰ; Undercommon: ანარ; Runic: ᛇᚾᚨᚱ; Wianishi: Энар) is on of the seven elemetal deities. He is bound to the element of Fire and is the god of War, Glory and Blood. It has spread far beyond its orginal purpose on the battlefield and have attracted new followers in the shadows and the brightest of lights.

Epithets

Across Milea, nothing is the same. This goes for the worship of Aenar as well. Different Epithets have formed as tradition differentiates over time. These five all focus on differatnaspects of Aenar, yet all share the element of Fire.

Aenar Ignis

Aenar Ignis is the epithet of Aenar which is focused on the domain of Fire. The Shrines of Ignis are focused on ritual based worship. Fire breathing and Easter fires are common to honor the element of fire. The Shrines have unuasaly been constructed out of Stone to take their ritual fire with them into the shirne where they pray to Aenar.

Aenar Solis

Aenar Solis is an epithet of Aenar which centered around the worship of the Sun as his blessing. The Shrines of Solis are open glass structures to harness power form the warmth of the sun. These buildings are built in a way that the sunrays can be used to light the fires in the shrine. The shrines are surrounded by pilllar which can be lit on fire.

Aenar Bellum

Aenar Bellum is one of the main epithets of Aenar. it is centred around the waging of war and engaging in battle. The woship of Aenar Bellum is an ever moving one, as he is mainly worshipped by the soldiers on the bettlefield. These soldiers wear their duellum crowns proudly on the battlefield and 'heretics' are often intimidated by the lack of an helmet, but these warriors are trained to kill, not to let mercy take its toll.

Aenar Vita

Aenar Vita is the epithet of life. It is centred around the worship of Life as the fire which burns inside you. Aenar Vita is often pictured with a Phoenix. A such it shrines are mostly located around the home of a phoenix. They have built undergorund shrines to not disturb the Phoenixes, thereby entire cave systems have been converted into holy cities. The head priests are one of the Phoenixborn, they have taken great courage to face the fire of a pheonix and be reborn in its greatness.

Aenar Sanguis

Aenar Sanguis is the epithet of blood. It is the rarest epithet since the wrship of blood is forwned upon in Milea. They ahve moved to the shadows ever since they were discovered. They have created systems of covens which hide in the shadows. The Shrines of Sanguis are hidden in plain sight and mostly house blood rituals and human sacrifices. In the strict parts of Milea even mentioning Aenar Sanguis can bee seen as an act of witchcraft.

Aenar Corvus

Aenar Corvus is the epithet knwon as the protector of the Valkyries. This epithet is exclusively limited to the shieldmaidens and the valkyries. In its worship it centred around the protection of life and the usage of war and battle. Aenar himslefs appoins Ductur. Their goals is to find and recruit shieldmaidens to the divine service of the valkyries.

Qui Iure Belli

The Qui Iure Belli is a relic from the mythological ages. It is believed dto be written by aenar itself and describes his optimal build for society. The societal classes are built upon combat expierence and level. Therefore this society is a hell to face on the battlefield, but hasn't developed high amounts of intelligence and wisdom. The children are given a warriors training from an very early age, this is named Agoge. Both males and females are eligible for this education and it is a requirement for full citizenship. The elite aenarian warriors are the Order of the Gauntlet, which use giant chains attached to gauntlets.

Duellum

The Warriors of Aenar can engage in Duellum, this is duel to the death as describes in the Qui Iure Belli. The denial of such a duel is seen as an act of cowardice and shall be proportionally punished. Multiple victories in Duelleum will grant that warrior an higher an higher rank. At the end of the duellum, the fallen warrior will be sacrificed to Aenar. This is to ensure the tranportation to the Spirit's Rest.

Aes Coronam - Bronze crown, granted upon winning your 5th duelleum.
Ferrum Coronam - Iron crown, granted upon winning your 15th duellum.
Auri Coronam - Gold crown, granted upon winning your 25th duellum.
Iaspis Coronam - Diamond crown - granted upon winning your 50th duellum.

Codex Poenarum

Even tough they are fierce warriors, they have an well established Code of Punishment.
Decimatio – a form of extreme military discipline used by officersto punish mutinous or cowardly soldiers in exceptional cases.
Castigatio – being hit by the centurion with his staff or animadversio fustium.
Deductio - Reduction of rations, or to be forced to eat barley instead of the usual grain ration.
Gradus Deiectio – a reduction in rank.
Munerum Indictio – additional duties.

Monestary of Blades

In the Northern part of Wianish a monestary of Aenar had formed in the isolated part. They have converted their cave system in honor of Aenar Bellum. Here they train the warriors following the Qui Iure Belli. Pilgrims of Aenar visit here frequently and get their paractice in, but from here the best of warrior here. The Order of the Gauntlet were founded in this monestary and still see this as their honorary headquarters.
