Session 26: Jindaar and Tonic

General Summary

With Zat's rescue behind them, the party heads into the painting of Jindaar Vorjid, and once again finds themselves in a new place, though this time, a place not so foreign. The Vorjid Estate in Muli is grand, and Phaeradina identifies sparring going on in a training area beside the large mansion. The group finds a young Jindaar sparring with his mother, and the group introduce themselves as members of the Guild of Adventurers , which excites the young Jindaar. His mother, however, is wary, even when Gul'Khaan says they are looking to show prospective adventurers the ropes, and to introduce more Dragonborn to the guild.
As they try to convince her, the mother sends Jindaar inside to find cookies in the kitchen, and her posture relaxes, showing her fading strength. And when she has a coughing fit, the party realizes her ultimate fate in the future to come. She admits it would be good for Jindaar, but that her husband, Master Dojin Vorjid vehemently opposes the guild. She tells a servant, Nyoccir, to show the party to her husband's office.
Inside the grand mansion, the party watches as Jindaar and his sister Raikira charge through the house giggling. A booming voice from upstairs chastises them, and the party reach the office of the master of the house. But when Nyoccir goes inside to tell Dojin, they return telling the party that they will not be seen. The party tries to argue their way in fruitlessly, and Nyoccir tells them that Dojin has opposed the guild since marrying Jindaar and Raikira's mother, whom was once a member. The party gets some bad vibes, and decide to 'rescue' Jindaar.
First, Phaeradina causes a distraction, falling down the stairs and crashing into a display of fine china. Then Gul turns invisible to go find the children. William then decides to 'help', beginning to smash up more china, drawing Mephiles and smashing stuff. Unfortunately, this causes the staff to blow a whistle, summoning a defence golem branded with the Vorjid Land Holdings Ltd, who begins a fight.
William rages out, and manages to snag a few hits while avoiding the golem's. Phaeradina fires bolt after bolt (and bird after bird) into the golem, but finds the bolts not doing as much damage as she hopes. Nil-enor strikes the golem with a blast of light, which ripples through the golem. Meanwhile, Gul finds the kids, and tries to convince them to come along. While Jindaar is all for it, Raikira is not, and puts herself between the two.
The golem picks up speed, and lays into William. Though the barbarian resists the attacks of the golem, with each hit, he feels his life-force falling away. Phaeradina continues her assault, and Nil-enor charges forward, swinging his mace full of necrotic energies, but misses. Gul realizes his persuasion is futile in the face of Raikira, and resorts to casting a sleep spell. Raikira and Jindaar collapse, and a thunk from upstairs alerts Gul that Dojin has also been affected. But Gul hadn't done the math correctly, and his too-powerful spell ends up sending himself into a slumber.
The golem, now having suffer severe damage, begins liquefying as the heat melts the clay and the golem goes berserk. Slam! William takes a hit, though he resists further loss of life-force. Whiff! Nil-enor dodges the swing. Wham! Nil-enor, not expecting the third, take a brutal hit, and worse, his life force fades dramatically, making the Half-Elf feel himself age several decades. Fortunately, William is able to finish the job, and the golem completely collapses. Phaeradina summons her bestial spirit, the horrifying ape, to run over and wake up Gul.
Gul feels himself come to, and wakes to find the terrible visage of the earth-ape, mere centimetres from his face, grabbing his shoulders and shaking him awake. With pure instinct and fear, Gul wrestles on top of the ape, who wails in response. Gul responds in kind, roaring directly into the ape's face, which quiets it. Phaeradina grabs the two unconscious kids, and convinces Gul, after a moment, that the ape is a friend. With the ape and kids on her back, Phaeradina makes a break for the front door, and the rest follow behind. With the private guards mounting up, they all run for the portal, once again formed from hundreds if not thousands of glowing white moths. The kids begin to awaken, and Phaeradina orders the ape to restrain them, but they wriggle free. Identifying the danger of the situation, Jindaar meets Raikira's eye before pushing her off, and she rolls as she hits the ground moments before he and Phaeradina pass through the gate. Fatherly William grabs her, and the rest of the party heads through, before the guard catch them.
Returned to the manor of the Baroness, a woozy and adult Jindaar tries to piece together whats going on, and concludes that he has had a mental breakdown. William finds that the body of Raikira has turned into moths. Zat is playing chess with the "nice lady", and the party must find the next painting.
