Raam
Raam is a city-state in deep turmoil, overseen ambivalently by their sorcerer-queen, Abalache-Re. Her templar have lost control of the city. It is instead ruled by a number of factions, which control different part of the cities. The factions often war with each other, and their territories expand and contract often.
Points of Interest
Map-makers often opt out of drawing Raam due to its volatile nature. Maps made in the past become outdated as faction territories fluctuate. The Ghost City
Though labeled a city, it is more of a town that sits on the outside of the cities walls. It resides between the Southern gate of the Lowe Quarter, and the Eastern gate of the Coins district. The folk here are all Elves without a tribe, otherwise known as 'ghosts'. The people live in terribly squalid conditions, often taking on work that others would not. The most common employment of the region is the transfer of corpses from Raam's civil war from out of the city and into their crematorium. The Ghost City has no central leadership, and their people are considered 'untouchables'..The Lowe Quarter
Once known as the 'Elven Quarter', it was brought under the protection and taxation of Lowe of the Night Runners, and thus renamed. The Night Runners is the largest and most well-armed Elven tribe in Raam. The Lowe Quarter is the poorest district within the walls of Raam. The Official Quarter
The bulk of the faction wars occur in this largest district of Raam. It has been split into two parts, simply known as its 'upper' and 'lower' parts. The upper part was once held by Mansabdar Manesh Kholi, an ex-templar, and his well-organized army. The lower part was controlled by the deceased Mansabdar Rohin Chakrabarti. After the recent "Battle for center-Raam", a force of Northern raiders, Nightrunners, and the GLADiators took the official quarter. Lord Urlod rules foremost over the official quarter, though chieftess Tevara maintains order in the 'lower' side. The Coins District
The Coins District is is one of the wealthier regions of Raam, controlled by House Langston. Olivia Langston is the leader of the house, and has adopted an aggressive means of survival within Raam; House Langston's agents have been seen raiding the official quarter, and even nearby caravans of other city-states. The district itself is comparably safe to the rest of Raam, and the guards do not let strangers in who do not 'present themselves properly'.The Temple Quarter
Upon losing control of the majority of the city - the Templar pulled back into the quarter where most of them and their families live. The Temple Quarter has less people protecting it than most of the others - however they are among the most well-armed and experienced combatants in Raam - and therefore have been challenged little by the other factions. The Templar of Raam still claim to operate as agents of Abalache-Re, and protect the Queen's Hill in addition to their own district. The Ascetic Row
The Ascetic Row is the smallest district of Raam besides the Queen's Hill, and is considered one of the most prestigious psionic academies in the Tablelands. Led by Telranis in the famous building called the 'Psiomark'.The Queen's Hill
Where Abalache-Re lives. It contains her ivory palace and 'the consecrated sepulcher of Badna', where the remains of 30 generations of her favored husbands rest. Abalache-Re describes herself as the 'Grand Vizier' of the greater god, Badna, who she claims founded Raam itself. The courtyard in front of the palace is lush with life, and contains a water fountain. As discovered by Ver'nan, the fountain is host to a powerful water-spirit.Demographics
