Bountyfair

"Not long after leaving the forest, we approached the modest farming village of Bountyfair, a town of only a few dozen families flanked by fields of patchy wheat and several fruit orchards that had seen better days. We found it to be oddly quiet. While I didn't expect a bustle of activity in a town of this size, I still found it odd not to see more signs of life. The occasional villager passed from one building to another, but for the most part most houses seem to be shut and secured as best as possible."

Bountyfair is a small village in the Kingdom of Hildonia located northeast of the Olfeg Forest, known for its citrus orchards.

Description

The village is quite small, housing barely two hundred individuals. The village is run by a town council, elected every five years by a popular vote. This town council meets infrequently and only for major issues, leaving the sheriff the de facto leader of the town on a day-to-day basis.

Points of Interest

• The Old Orange Inn: A tavern owned by Edwin and Hilda Wagoner.
• Communal Hall: A two-room building used for town council meetings. When there is not a council in session it is utilized as the sheriff's office. There is a single jail cell towards the back of the building.
• St. Orehm's: A small chapel of the Blind Author built and maintained by a retired adventurer and cleric named Alvin Onas.

History

In the past, Bountyfair was a popular spot for passing traders to rest before the next leg of their journey, due to its position near the border of Mitterbod and its location along the route towards Hildegard and Brokenoak. However, in recent years the unchecked presence of a bandit gang operating out of the forest has led the majority of travelers to favor alternate routes, and as such the people of the village have fallen on hard times. Recently a passing group of adventurers hunted down and destroyed this bandit gang, and in the process discovered the ancient tomb of the famous knight Baldwin Hayward. The fortunes of the village have yet to turn around however.
