A blast box is a glass or brass box that is designed to allow mages to channel lightning into said box. After which, if the box is thrown, then it will break open, releasing the trapped lightning at all those unfortunate to be near a blast box. 
These items are employed by the Royal Navy of Carcino, and are used to attack enemy ships or to scare away sea creatures.
