Moon Berries

Moon Berries are alien fruit which, one night every ten years, will shift dimensions and enter the world of Sanctuary, and only in a single deep and dark underground cave of the Forest name. They glimmer slightly with an internal light, unlike any other plant, and they are very fragile to the touch. Only the people who live in the woods where the berries appear know how to properly harvest and cultivate the them.

Once, around the year of 100 Post-Gear, a woodland lad partook of a Moon Berry and immediately vanished into thin air, right in front of his family. Years passed and his corpse finally made it back to the Forest Name, smashed an battered with bits of gray stone imbedded deeply in the skin all over his body. Ever since this event, the leaders of the forest folk decided it was best to keep the fruit hidden from even many of their own people. They, and the knowledge of the place they could be found, are secrets kept by the head family name in their kingdom, the Moonbrooks.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Moon Berries do not originate in Sanctuary, but merely enter the dimension infrequently during a certain time of year, once every decade.

The fruit is semi-sweet with a squishy texture with no seeds inside. Only one in every thousand or so of the berries lies a proper plantable seed, but even then it does not grow in any soil or ecosystem in Sanctuary.

The magical properties of Moon Berries being alien to the world, is secret knowledge hidden and protected by the forest folks of Forest Name.

Significance

Moon Berries will allow the consumer to shift between dimensions at will.

Rarity

Moon Berries are rather common, but as they shift between dimensions and only appear in Sanctuary during a certain phase of one of the four moons, they are largely unknown to most inhabitants. Only the forest folk of Forest Name in third continent are truly aware of their existence and then even of their powers.
