Glahd the Gravedigger

Of salt and sorrow, of endless life. Ground split with spade, like meat by knife.

While winds of time blow hither and and yawn, Glahd the Gravedigger piles earth and lives on.

Glahd is anything but glad. His entire family wiped from the surface of Sanctuary in a saltstorm upon the waters of the seas surrounding The Whips Isles, Glahd washed ashore a broken and mournful man. With nothing to his name save the skin of his back and an iron shovel, Glahd has found purpose in his remaining years in the joint effort of the Cleaners to keep the cities and settlements free of disease by the act of quick and efficient embalming and burial of the dead.

Glahd seldom speaks to any and all he encounters in his day-to-day dealings, and few know of him any more than the tragedy at sea he spoke of one Skrig-Tide night, but he is not a dumb man. Glahd is compassionate and kind on the surface, but deep inside he retains a devastatingly passionate strength, the cursed result of his final goodbyes to all that he loved.

While no one may know of his past life, Glahd knows the number of notches on his sword, though they are now replaced with notches on a spade. Dealing with the dead is what he does best, and it is what he has always known, in one form or another. In the decades to come, Glahd will play an important role in the lives and happenings of those around him unfortunate enough to live through the Rheckoning.

Though Glahd will not joint The Group in Sanctuary, he will be a supporting character in some of the adventures of the cast of BWOH.
