Gniceside

The town of Gniceside is a large silver mining town in Brabantsia which lays on the riverside of to the Gnice. It is known to be the home of the famous Brabantsian fried dough dish known as Rooiebak.
Rooiebak is a ball of dough filled with minced Conchon, egg, and a some thinly minced vegetables. This ball is than fried in oil until is has an slightly leathery texture. The dish is served in bowls made from folded paper. They can be eaten either directly out of the pan or cooled. Rooiebak is a popular lunch item for miners and other labourers who need a quick bite because it is easy to transport and filled with loads of calories. Rooiebak is also popular with scholars and students who need to have something easy and cheap to eat while studying in the universities of Den Pea and actually want to taste something other than sawdust.

Natural Resources

The people of Gniceside earn their bread by mining the silver which can be found in the surrounding hills. The silver can be found in thin but plentiful veins which get searched by manual mining. Once a vein is found the tunnel gets evacuated and the miners pump the tunnel full with a burst water which blasts the vein open. Then they pump the water back out again with the help of a windmill and shift through the water looking for grains of silver.

Industry

With the silver found in the Gniceside mines craftsman from around Brabantsia are able to make beautifully decorated plates and bowls. They decorated these plates with with imagery of the local wildlife and of the two sacred mountains known as the Wittewieven which tower over the entire countryside. These bowls and plates are then send downstream to the city of Plopsapolis where the wealthy gnomes of the Laiscuit League eagerly await new batches. The womenfolk of Plopsapolis love to decorate their homes with authentic Brabantsian silver.
