Star Valley

A desert oasis in the Barren Expanse. A natural beauty of golden sands and lush palms providing shade for its people, the fine sand is surprising to build on. In the centre of Star Valley is a giant oasis with a meteorite in the middle of it. The meteorite is made of a strange material that defies any current scientific attempts to classify it, although magic and arcane research has detected that this is a giant piece of Astral Magistone./   While orginally a peaceful valley of low laying grasslands and plentiful harvests, the Landscape changed many centures ago after the falling of a giant meteor into the valley. This lead the valley to be renames into Star Valley. During the Pandora War, Star Valley's lush greenery was wiped out from the Sins attack. The desret landscape that appeared, while different from the vally, did seem to suit the halflings, who were able to traverse the sands with ease. Star Valley appears to be a simplisitic town but needs technology to thrve the creation of sandboards and strutures that dont sink into the sand have mean that Star valley has been able to be expanded to a larger settlement. It has become an aide in the 2nd Pandora War by aiding in the creation of ammunitions that can be infused with magics, that are combined with the sands and the Astral Magistone to create arrows if different effects. \   Today, Star Valley is a haven for desert travellers, people travel there as part of holy pilgrimages. It is a missed location in terms of train lines and airship routes with the lack of facilities to land airships or lay tracks across the sands.   Star Valley, with its Halfling ingenuity and Ogre strength, stands as a unique blend of desert survival and technological innovation, a true oasis of peace and resilience amid the Barren Expanse.

Nestled among the towering peaks of the valley, this temple seems almost as if it were carved from the mountains themselves. Its walls shimmer with silver and gold, catching the light of the stars and constellations that give the city its name. The sanctuary’s ceiling is a magnificent dome of enchanted glass, reflecting the night sky in perfect clarity, allowing starlight to bathe the temple in a soft, ethereal glow. Inside, the atmosphere is peaceful yet vibrant, with small gardens of hardy mountain plants thriving along the walls, nurtured by Yondalla’s grace.   At the center of the sanctuary stands the Lifestar Tree, a massive, ancient tree believed to be blessed by Yondalla herself. Its silver bark and golden leaves shimmer under the starlight, and it is said that any child born under the tree’s canopy will be blessed with health and long life. The Eclipse of Life, a sacred ceremony in which Yondalla’s priests ask for her protection during troubled times, is held annually here. During this ceremony, the temple is illuminated by thousands of glowing orbs, each representing the spark of life within the city. This date marks the anniversary of the meteor's impact in Star Valley.   Historical Significance: The Festival commemorates two pivotal moments in the history of Star Valley:
  • The Meteor Impact – The arrival of the mysterious meteor that transformed the once lush valley into a desert, bringing with it the mystical Astral Magistone.

  Festival Activities:
  • Sandboard Races: A traditional highlight of the festival is the Great Sandboard Race, where participants, both Halfling and Ogre, speed down the dunes on custom-made sandboards. The race symbolizes the adaptability and speed the Halflings have mastered in their desert environment. Prizes include rare items crafted from Astral Magistone and enchanted sand.
  • The Astral Tribute: At the heart of the festival is the Astral Tribute, a ceremonial offering made at the Meteorite Oasis, where a grand procession of Halflings and Ogres carries magical-infused arrows and artifacts to honor the fallen star.
