Prismatic Cult

"From Fracture, Light Eternal." A phrase that reinterprets the catastrophic Prism Collapse as a metaphysical evolution — the shattering of the old world to reveal divine truth through refracted existence.   Crest:  The Fractured Halo   The Prismatic Cult’s crest takes the form of a shattered seven-pointed star, each point representing a distinct color of the spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. These points are arranged around a central iridescent eye — its pupil a black spiral that suggests the Ascended Prism, always watching through veils of light.   Behind the star, faintly etched, is the outline of a shattered mirror circle — each crack carefully etched to curve inward toward the eye, symbolizing the belief that divine truth lies in fragmentation, not unity. The entire emblem seems as if caught in a moment of light refracting through glass.   Flag Variant:   A vertical banner split into seven thin, colored stripes   The shattered star sits at the top third, the eye glowing in the center   The bottom features the words (in Gnomish): “Na vrel’tara’kai” — “In light, beyond truth”   Symbolism:
  • Seven points: The sacred chromatic spectrum
  • Fractured mirror: Enlightenment through broken perception
  • Spiral pupil: The unknown core of the Prism Collapse
  • Iridescence: Illusion as divinity

Structure

  • The Kaleidos Prophet – Singular spiritual leader and voice of the Prism’s divine intent

  • The Chroma Council – Seven veiled advisors, each dedicated to a color of the prismatic spectrum

  • Shardbearers – Zealous defenders and internal enforcers, wielding relics found in the ruins

  • The Glintbound – The lay followers, mostly gnome descendants and planar seekers who live among the ruins in a communal theocracy

Culture

  • Rituals involve light fasting, mirrored meditation, and refraction rites where light is bent through ancient crystal shards found in Zirzindale.

  • Followers believe that the Prism Collapse was not a disaster but a shedding of illusion — that the dragons and their order were vessels of flawed singularity, and that true divinity lies in fractured multitudes.

  • Color theory, both magical and symbolic, defines their caste and roles. Each follower "aligns" to a color upon initiation.

  • Dreams, reflections, and spectral visions are considered messages from beyond the planes.

Public Agenda

  • To retrieve and protect prismatic relics across Astrium and the outer planes

  • To convert planar scholars, sorcerers, and chromatic descendants into the faith

  • To reopen the "Eye of Zirzindale", a sealed chamber believed to be the final resting place of the Ascended Prism

  • To resist attempts by the Astrium Alliance or local powers to classify the Prism Collapse as a pure calamity

Assets

  • The Shardhold – A semi-sunken cathedral in the ruins of Zirzindale where refracted light never behaves naturally
  • Lightforged Relics – Small fragments of unknown origin that grant brief flashes of planar insight or minor illusion-based powers

  • Hidden Vaults – Secret stashes of ancient chromatic scrolls and artifacts, jealously guarded by the Shardbearers

  • Devoted Followers – Nearly 200 members live communally, with a mix of gnomes, tieflings, changelings, and a few planar beings

History

After the fall of Zirzindale, once a gleaming gnome stronghold of chromaturgy, the site was considered cursed and abandoned. However, around 52 AD, a fringe scholar named Eivara Glintsprocket returned, claiming the voices of the Prism had spoken to her in dream and shard. She formed the Prismatic Cult, attracting those disillusioned by the world’s chaotic post-collapse order. Over centuries, the cult grew in secret, hidden within the ever-winter mists of Bluesnow. Expeditions sent to reclaim the ruins were often lost, their survivors returned glassy-eyed or driven mad — bolstering the Cult’s mythos.   Despite being labeled a heretical cult, their understanding of planar tears and chromatic energy has proven valuable. Some whisper that elements within the Astrium Alliance have begun to secretly consult the cult for planar insight — risking corruption for clarity.

Disbandment

Status: Still active, but under growing scrutiny.
  • If the Astrium Council were to declare them a Planar Heresy, the cult may retreat deeper into the ruins, or fracture — quite poetically — into chromatic splinter factions.
