Gargantuan Pinnacle
Once part of a vast mountain range that connected the Stronghold Mountains to the Whispering Alps, the Gargantuan Pinnacle is the last towering remnant of a landscape reshaped by the cataclysmic event known as Realmshatter. Once stretching across entire continents, much of the range was obliterated by clashes with the Sins, leaving only the Pinnacle standing defiant against time and turmoil. The Gargantuan Pinnacle is the tallest and most imposing peak in the region, its jagged form piercing the skies like a spear of stone, a solitary sentinel amidst the scarred landscape.
After the planar tears began appearing and new races arrived in Astrium, a tribe of Hadozee monks ascended to the very top of the Pinnacle, where they discovered a plateau crowned with a small, lush forest and natural hot springs. This elevated paradise became the perfect place for meditation and martial training, and the Hadozee established a monastery there. They called it Skyhaven, a sanctuary devoted to the teaching and mastery of martial disciplines. The monks lived in harmony with the land, cultivating self-sufficiency and shunning advanced technology, relying only on basic electricity like simple electric lanterns to maintain their peaceful way of life.
However, during the Second Pandora War, the monastery was devastated when Yeenoghu, the Sin of Wrath, led a brutal assault, nearly wiping out the Hadozee and the other monks who resided there. The monastery lay abandoned for decades, but after 80 years of rebuilding, the Hadozee have slowly repopulated the area, and Skyhaven once again welcomes those who seek enlightenment and martial training. Today, Skyhaven stands as a self-sustaining settlement, still deeply rooted in its traditions and in the process of applying for city status.
Points of Interest
The Skyfall Hot Springs
Nestled at the highest point of the Pinnacle is a cluster of natural hot springs known as the Skyfall Hot Springs. The springs are revered by the Hadozee monks for their healing and rejuvenating properties. Surrounded by a dense forest of ancient trees, the hot springs are a serene and tranquil place where monks meditate after their rigorous training sessions. The waters are said to possess a slight mystical quality, helping to calm the mind and restore the body. Travelers who are lucky enough to reach the monastery are often granted time in these springs as part of their spiritual journey.
The Eternal Ring
A large, flat area near the summit serves as a massive training ground known as the Eternal Ring, where the Hadozee monks and other martial artists practice their techniques. The stone floor of the Ring is adorned with intricate carvings representing the elements, symbolizing balance, strength, and discipline. Each day, students gather here to train under the guidance of seasoned monks. The Eternal Ring is also the site of the Grand Martial Tournament, held once every decade, where fighters from across Astrium come to prove their mastery of various martial arts disciplines.
The Windspire Monastery
The heart of Skyhaven is the Windspire Monastery, a towering structure built directly into the rock face of the Pinnacle. The monastery is a stunning architectural feat, with stone steps carved into the mountain leading to intricately designed halls and chambers. The Windspire is a place of quiet reflection, where the monks live, study, and train in the ways of martial arts. At its peak, the monastery has a bell tower that tolls once at sunrise and once at sunset, a symbol of balance and the constant pursuit of harmony. Within its walls, students can explore the Sevenfold Path, the ancient doctrine that guides their training, focusing on the mind, body, and soul.
The Gargantuan Pinnacle remains a symbol of resilience, standing tall as a testament to those who survived and rebuilt after the Sins' devastation. Skyhaven, with its blend of serene natural beauty and disciplined martial tradition, now thrives atop this mighty peak, offering enlightenment and strength to those willing to endure the journey.
Geography
A large mountain thats peak heads into the clouds and beyond. Fresh water gathers in rain clouds that could be retrieved by bucket from above.
Climate
Above the clouds, the climate is quite warm, but below the cloud is a cooler, foggy and windier surrounding the descent.
Fauna & Flora
The area is laden with beasts, specifically the gnolls and trolls that inhabit the lower mountains. The gnolls are left over from the influence of Yeenoghu, the Sin of Wrath. Atop the mountain's peak is a tribe of Hadozee that have been living up there in solitude for quite some time.
History
The gargantuan Pinnacle was part of a much bigger mountain range, that joined the stronghold mountains and the whispering alps together and separated the landscape into the continents. After the events of Realmshatter the mountain scape was decimated in length and various clashes with the sins levelled the landscape. The one mountain that stayed strong was the pinnacle and tallest mountain in the range, later named the gargantuan pinnacle.
As planar tears opened up and "exotic" races began entering Astriun, a tribe of Hadozee monks eventually migrated to the top of the plateau at the very top, a small forested area with lush hot springs. They formed a monastary that would teach the different disciplines of martial arts.
During the 2nd Pandora war, most of Hadozee and other monks were wiped out by Yeenoghu the Sin of Wrath. While the Hadozee have re-populated and some trainee monks have begun to return after 80 years of rebuilding.
Today the secluded area open to all people who are wanting to train, but they are self-sustainable and decline most technolgies, having simple electric lanturns so they dont have to use oil. The Hadozee who lay claim to the settlement are applying for city status under the name "Skyhaven"
