Erik's Stead
Duncan clicked his wagon forward, waving to his drivers to follow. He was unfamiliar with this road, as is leads to only one settlement and had Jameson ride up front to keep and eye out for dangers. Duncan looked at the mass of seeds and preserved foods in the back and sighed, counting the coin lost on the few day detour demanded by that damned king. His lot wasn't to decide what was good or bad, but to make coin and learn the roads, neither of which this helped with. coming down the small valley between the hillsides he saw the shoddy walls of Erik's Stead and thought of the carved stone of his homeland, halting at the gates as the guards ask for his papers.

After a successful hunt the hunter is now known as a ranger and are well respected in the village. they take the hides and valuable bits of the monsters and cure them for regular use, exporting those and their small fields of tobacco to Ragnar's hold to take a caravan somewhere else. they import varieties of food to survive the winter months, often losing harvests to to kobold burrows or other more fiercesome beasts

The Thegn runs the day to day of the town and chafes under the thumb of the Huntsmaster, causing no small amount of problems between the two. History
Founded by Erik the Red early in his reign, he noted the large amount of game and would come here to hunt with his companions when he wasn't raiding or ruling. After a few years, a settlement sprung up around his hunting area. One day during his hunting trip the king was attacked by a large pride of manticores and would have fallen if not for a local ranger bringing down their pride master. Erik offered the man a boon and he requested that he be allowed to build his village into a town with settlers from Ragnar's Hold. Erik agreed and sent 2500 settlers to begin this settlement, naming the man as Huntsmaster and giving him purview over the town. That man also made an agreement with the Ironwood to allow his hunters to venture into their woods and hunt in exchange for Ironwood settlers being allowed to settle in the town also. When he died his dream had come true and Erik's Stead was a hearty hunting community.
