Demographics

The few thousand Izantine survivors of the Magnum Triste have been equalized in their class, ethnicity, and material possessions. Their focus is survival.

Government

The Fist of Ishtas obliterated the governmental quarter of the imperial city, and killed the Imperator and the majority of the Senate. Government is slowly being re-established by the survivors, but most decisions are made by popular vote.

Infrastructure

The surviving community has reclaimed some of the rubble of the city scape and built temporary shelters for themselves. A clinic, Syanna's Grace was one of the first buildings permanently established, and remains one of the few landmarks in what will be Neo-Izantium. Miles of city rubble remain to be explored, looted, repurposed, and rebuilt.

History

The former seat of the Izantine Empire, the city was the largest and most populous settlement in their known world. Over three hundred years, the Empire slowly extended its reach to the far corners of the continent, absorbing the native populations through a mix of warfare and diplomacy. Ruled jointly by the hereditary Imperator and the elected Senate, the Empire had enjoyed a century of peace prior to the Magnum Triste, the falling of the Fist of Ishtas.
