Kyligheim

Past the fjords of Hyggelanda, across the icy wind-swept Kylighaf Sea, to the far north of the continent of Dol Teroth lies the mysterious desolate glacier of monstrous size known as Kyligheim. Largely shrouded in secrecy, throughout the ages the number of sailors who have ventured that far north and managed to return alive to tell the tale can be counted on one hand's frostbitten fingers. Many, many more have perished, never to be seen again. Their tales uniformly tell of the blinding white expanses and the keening winds that shred the very bones.

Geography

Size of the area occupied by Kyligheim is about twice the size of the whole region of Hyggelanda. However, the mammoth glacier is completely crisscrossed by fjords and pocked with salt-water kettles. Tall sharp pyramidal mountains rise between the narrow water-filled crevasses, giving the landscape a resemblance of some giant ridged beast.

The weather is an almost perpetual blizzard, and even the few days of the year clear of precipitation are filled with chilling, keening winds that crescendo into a phenomenon known as the Polar Vortex that is sometimes observed in other cold regions of the world, but nowhere of strength and lethality of the ones that occur in Kyligheim.

Fauna & Flora

No animal or plant call Kyligheim their home. The unforgiving conditions on the icy glacier prohibit any life from taking root. The sea waters around it are home to varied hardy marine life, except to the immediate north, where the waters are too cold to sustain them.

Natural Resources

Kyligheim Quartz - a very peculiar type of quartz that is believed to break off and float from the north and is sometimes found on the ice floes in the Kylighaf sea. It hasn't been concretely proven to come from Kyligheim, but is believed to have been created by the crushing force of ice on the sand and gravel inside the glacier itself.
