Aphtonia

Situated on the confluence of Golrana and Siderkos rivers, Aphtonia was an unassuming city-state among many others in the same region. Following the Cataclysm of 4802-4814 AoUP and Lucrecius' reforms, it quickly rose in prominence, taking over the territory left weakened in wake of the disaster. Now at the forefront of a full-fledged realm of its own, the city of Aphtonia grew in wealth and size into a cultural, scientific and military centre.

Surrounded by tall circular marble walls, the city is a marvel of engineering and architecture whose prominent beauty belies the inequity of its less fortunate citizens. The city has grown into an urban centre in the full meaning of the word, acquiring nearly all of its resources from other surrounding settlements of Git Aphtonia and even importing from abroad. It is a centre of Git Aphtonian government and seat of its Blessed Council, as well as all of its administrative, religious, and bureaucratic branches.

Geography

Unbeknownst to most of its citizens, Aphtonia was built inside of a giant circular crater - a monument to a past Cataclysm. The slopes of that scar upon the land have grown fairly gentle over the centuries, and the settlers of Aphtonia have mostly gone none the wiser to where they were settling. All they cared about was protection from the wind it afforded them, the comparative richness in resources, and a somewhat hidden position.

In past centuries, there existed trickling rivulets branching from the Golrana that flowed into the crater and supplied the fledgeling city with fresh water, but they have been long diverted to irrigate the farm fields than now dot the city's western approach.
