Blood Bat

The beast's fat stomach swelled, it's insides sloshing with the villager's bodily fluids. It made it's way towards the knight, it's pig-like face gleaming hungrily at her, human residue dripping from it's maw.

A "Blood Bat" is a species of bat that stands twice the height of a human and drains blood from it's victims in minutes. It has a bloated, red-grey stomach and struggles to move around when it has fed itself significantly. After feeding they are exhausted and lumber their way back to their den with an overflowing stomach. This is when the bat is most vulnerable and it is an easy target for other vicious predators, hunters or adventurers.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

It is difficult to use the bat for any good reason. Their meat is foul and rots fast, their bones deteriorate quickly and they're all hostile at the sight of a humanoid.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Blood bats are found in Underdark caves and Jungles, exclusively in Bree.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

It has been known that a certain hag has taken to riding a Blood Bat, using them to capture victims and eat their flesh. It's not unheard of for a starving vampire to drain a Blood Bat of it's devoured blood and to drink on it for survival purposes.
