Manchar

The party arrived on Manchar at the behest of Old Fox, the head of the Cabal's operations on Chunming Maw. They were given a bounty for a young half elf, who reneged on his deal with her and as such has forfeited his soul to her. After breaking into the monastery where he was staying and killing most of the ninja living there, they successfully captured the half elf and his infernal weapon, and brought him back to Old Fox.

Geography

Manchar is the ninth planet from the sun in the Balagos region. The surface of Manchar is made of hard rock but millions of years of weathering by rivers have resulted in formations of huge rocky pillars that reach many miles into the air. The churning waters at the base of these pillars kick up lots of spray, forming large clouds that float between the pillars. This has caused the tops of the pillars to become lush with vegetation and this is where the people of Manchar live.   The party visited a small town situated across several pillars, all connected by bridges of varying stability, as well as a nearby monastery. The monastery was built into the side of one of the higher pillars in the region, connected to the others by a large stone bridge.

Fauna & Flora

Most of Manchar's rocky towers are covered in lush vegetation, fed by the vapour rising from the churning waters below. Many types of vibrant blossom trees are maintained by the monks on the planet.   Fauna on Manchar have largely adapted to life on the rocky pillars by becoming excellent climbers, gliders, or evolved flight, as a means to move from one pillar to the next and to catch themselves if they fall.

History

Manchar is steeped with ritual history, the most notable being the ninja clerics that live in its secluded monasteries. These usually peaceful monks are highly secretive and do not often allow anyone to go near them. Known as the Vi'oontu, the evening swallow that calls death, they follow the teachings of the legendary cleric Shukenja Korax. Shukenja Korax was a human monk during the early colonisation of Asgorath, who wandered across the stars on a pilgrimage before settling on Manchar and forming the first monastery. He was known to be both an excellent fighter and healer, often preaching the importance of knowing when to heal rather than take up arms.  The different monasteries follow a variety of gods, though most commonly they revere a triad of gods made up of:
  • Leira, The Goddess of Illusion
  • Eldath, The Goddess of Peace
  • Shar, The Goddess of Darkness and Loss
The current master of the largest monastery is a tortle called Master Oogway, though his temple was recently ransacked.

Tourism

Most people visit Manchar looking for spiritual awakening. Many leave disappointed when they are turned away by the monks. Other come for the dramatic scenery and beautiful vistas of the blossom covered pillars. Its not uncommon for amateur photographers or artists to loose their footing and go plunging to their deaths in the rivers below.
