Children of Bastorius

"Humanity never learned of our shame when they gave the name Bastorius to their new God. To us he was Rhothomir, proof that Elf-kind needed to be taught a lesson by the Gods. It almost makes too much sense that his creations would be borne of our children. He steals them from recently conquered people. Their bodies reflect the terrible nature that is our shame, feeding off of shadow and hunting us in our nightmares.   I hope Humanity forgives us one day...."   passage from the journal of Iondaer Mylvendi, First Warden of Tirrafel

Basic Information

Anatomy

These creatures are tall and lithe with grey skin stretched over gnarled bones. Their bodies resemble the once elvish form in the ears only for they extend further out behind the head. The eyes glow a bright blue with pale white pupils.   They have 2 pairs of arms, one being the larger primary set which are used for most daily activities and the smaller pair are used to assist in tasks and cast dangerous spells while not encumbering itself.   From their elbows sprout wicked spikes to match the equally wicked claws that sprout from their fingertips. Hunched over they walk on all fours most of the time. Upright they stand around 7' but cannot maintain their balance for too long like this.

Growth Rate & Stages

As babies they are stolen from parents in war torn regions of the Material Plane and others in which Elves have colonised. These grief stricken children are brought to the Shadowfel and exposed to the dark reflection. As they grow and hunt, their bodies are warped and tortured until their bodies mutate into killing machines. They are special amongst the creations of Bastorius as they are the personal guards to his lair.

Ecology and Habitats

The Shadowfel is where they prefer to spend their time, hunting and absorbing the life essence of creatures unfortunate enough to come too close to Bastorius Tower.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Pronounced Chins and Ears. Glowing Blue Eyes with white Pupils. Pale grey skin with black lips that hide broken teeth. Wispy white hair falls back down to their waist.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They mainly exist around the Tower of Bastorius in the Shadowfel, but are regularly sent as assassins to other planes.

Average Intelligence

Highly Intelligent and capable of casting moderate level arcane spells. They are highly efficient and keen creatures.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have Blindsight and Tremorsense out to 120 ft when in the Shadowfel as they feel the movement of the shadows and can anticipate where their prey is going to be. Due to the nature of their existence they can detect magic at will and sense Arcane users within 150 ft of themselves.   When they hunt in the Material Plane that advantage is reduced to Darkvision out to 120ft. The second set of arms they posses are strictly used for the use of arcane glyphs and somatic movements.   Their hearing and smell are both average for a humanoid.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They do not eat the bodies of those they are ordered to kill so various denizens of the Shadow have learned to follow behind and pick carcasses clean in their wake. Shadows have been known to try and deliver the final blow to a target but are often struck down and killed before they succeed.......most.
