Vice Admiral Alexis Bethany Walsh (a.k.a. Lexi)

Alexis Bethany Walsh was born in New Falls located in the former United Countries Alliance of North America, known at the time as Island Falls, Maine. She was the only child of Thomas and Amanda Walsh, a flight engineer and artist respectively. Alexis never knew her parents, as they died shortly after her second birthday and was raised primarily by her uncle, Roderick Simmons. Despite having little knowledge of them, she quickly developed the aptitudes and intelligence of both of her parents, developing a keen mind for mechanical theory coupled with a creative talent.
Even from an early age, Alexis possessed an unnatural knack for being able to spot patterns that were not obvious to others. At the age of six, her uncle had found her outside watching the robotic field tenders and scolded her for being out on her own. Upon asking what she was doing, her only reply was that one of the robots would break soon. Within a day, a small explosion erupted from the field as one of the tenders collapsed in a fiery heap. Roderick asked her how she knew and she stated it didn't move the same as the others. Watching the field cameras, Roderick still did not see what she had until she pointed to a slight wobble from the machine that broke down.
Being raised by her uncle, Alexis led a very disciplined life, but despite his attempts, Roderick was unable to curb her curiosity. She kept exploring, trying to understand the world she had been born into, letting nothing stand in her way. This invariably got her into trouble, sometimes with an authority outside her uncle, but despite this she excelled in all of her studies and showed an aptitude to think outside of known strategies. At the age of eight, she was able to beat her uncle, a Grandmaster of Chess, in a game. At the age of ten, she developed a new hover technology, and at the age of thirteen she became the youngest to enter the Terran Ascendency Officer Academy in Malmö.
Despite her young age, she was able to prove that she was worthy of being at the academy as she was able to outwit and outperform students four years her senior. Not only was she the youngest graduate of the officer program, she also completed the program in record time. At the age of fifteen, she obtained the rank of Lieutenant Commander and joined started the Leadership Program immediately after. There she developed new fleet strategies, especially in defensive engagements. She was able to consistently defend positions against superior forces and firepower capability long enough for reinforcements to arrive. At eighteen, she obtained the rank of Captain. Those who did not know her whispered of nepotism, but those who knew admired and respected her talents.
At the age of twenty one an accident occurred aboard New Stockholm and the station had to be evacuated. Unfortunately the High Council was in session at the time and they were cut off from escape. Alexis took her ship, the Cutting Dale, and sped towards the station only to find that the integrity of the station was about to collapse and cause the fusion reactor to explode. Using her ship in a way that was only theorized, she extended her structural integrity field to support the station and boarded. While other ships fled the immediate vicinity, a small crew, including Alexis herself, was able to board the station, disable the reactor, and reach the council before any succumbed to the lack of life support. Her actions earned her the rank of Rear Admiral and propelled her to top the list of candidates for the Vanguard Project which had begun four years earlier.
At the age of twenty two, she was selected to lead the first Vanguard fleet and was hailed as a hero by the populous for her actions previous. Promoted to Vice Admiral, Alexis became the youngest to command a fleet of this size.
