Mycelial Expansion

"They say the Expansion was grown from a single mushroom, some kind of hyper aggressive Morchella made by some crazy old alchemist. You need to take care not to stay in the uncleared parts of the forest for too long on account of the spores being parasitic, You'll recover but the treatment hurts like hell. *laughs*"
Jewelees Swain Head of Alchemical Research with the Adventures Initiative

Geography

The Hot Zone lays in a valley just shy of the Obsidian Craglands, the mountains form a natural barrier to stop the spread of the spores. A river comes down from the Craglands and through the valley, luckily the fungus doesn't seem to travel down river as the town of Phelo relies on it for most of it's fresh water.

Fauna & Flora

The mushroom spores have afflicted nearly all the plants and animals in the area, their behavior seem to be largely unchanged unless something is considered a large enough threat to the Expansion. In this situation all affected animals become incredibly aggressive, some have even been seen to cast spells to fend off threats. The only thing that seems to be unaffected is other types of mushrooms and fungus.

Natural Resources

The Initiative has locked down this zone to study the effects of the mushrooms as well as sample them for potential use in potions and or poisons. The mushrooms seem to have a high resistance to alot of common magics and that alone makes them very valuable for research. The animals afflicted by the spores have seen little change tho some of the larger specimens develop tumors in and on the body, we have taken samples and these tumors have small crystalline structures that seem to be magically charged tho further testing is required.
