Colos Ocean (Cool-us Ocean)
The Daralei is vast, this cannot be denied, but some say that the world’s true extent can be experienced in the Colos, the unending sea. This largest and theoretically deepest of oceans depths stretches more than 13,000 miles, and is broken only by occasional jagged rocks. It is a hotbed for whales, in fact it is believed there are more whale species and individuals in this one area than any other part of the world. Where these whales are however, predators exist to feed on them, such as kraken, sea wyrm, and even the mightiest of beasts, the Terrasque, is seen here from time to time.
When sailors first took to the Colos some 1000 years ago, tales told of a whale so big and so ancient, the teeth of terrasque past sat lodged in its fins and it had grown so big that sailors would think it an island when it rested on the oceans top. This creature was called Brolgus, which in giant means “Big Fish” and he was known as the Father of all whales. Of course, there was no evidence to suggest such a whale existed, until 89,596 when a gnome scholar Tibble Torn Tingletongue found the first species of Cetaejuggernautus gigantas, the Brolgus Whale. The individual, a female, was nearly 4000 feet long, and what was even more bizarre was that from what could be seen by researchers, it was young and still in adolescence. An adult species has not yet been found, and it is believed that a creature as big as an adult Brolgus Whale may never actually need to surface as their lungs can hold enough air for the rest of their lives.
The Colos was believed at one point to be the end of the world to the east, and that the ocean would stretch forever until 88,789 when the Human Explorer Mayodor Gringlass sailed its waters in search of something beyond, and eventually after several months of travel he found the shores of Krrs’thesa and made contact with the Ssskthesa tribe and the Lizardfolk species. Despite its uncharted waters and tales of monsters in the deep blue water, the Colos is still rather sailed, as it is a prime spot for the whaling industry and passes into the area known as the New East.
