Water Skies of Light

Manifestation

Through just a tiny bit of magical enhancement merfolk get to experience something they call "Water Skies". It happens every third new moon when the moon is gone but the sky is filled with stars.

Despite the fact Atlantis is so deep that no actual reflection can get to it, on these nights merfolk would turn all their lights off and gather up on balconies and in the parks to observe this event. With the lights off and the enhancement on the stars from way above reach all the way down and reflect not only on the ocean's surface but deep below it too and fill every nook and cranny of the ancient city with celestial light.

When the night comes to a close and everyone has had their time to enjoy literally swimming through the stars they would gather once again for the closing of the happening which is when giant jellyfish get out from their hiding and perform their mating dance everywhere around the domed magic walls keeping the inside of the city safe from intruders. This will result in the last whispers of fading lights from the stars being embraced and out-shined by the apple-sized balls of light that the jellyfishes release from their tentacles: males let out orbs in every color of the rainbow and the females release white light until they decide who they like, then respond by taking in that color and changing their glowy semi-transparent body to it. Then the pair floats away to find a spot to mate. The viewers of this dance of lights always remain stunned by its beauty no matter how many times they've seen it.
