Plasmid "Reapers" Syndrome

In the world of Arta, all living creatures are, at varying levels, connected to the gravitational force of the Uvaran beings present. This passive steady output of energy allows life to flourish, sustain and expand their civilizations. Each Uvaran gives off a stronger link to beings immediately surrounding it that it has chosen to support. Entire cultures will sometimes develop and flourish around patron Uvarans who have chosen this more foundational lifestyle. Other Uvarans travel with partners and thus their influence is more likely to spread as they move.   Some beings possess very weak links to these channels of energy and therefore are left without magical power. Most of the Human population exists in this state as well as a few other banished races that have struggling populations on Arta.   Other beings possess a much stronger connection which allows them to forge direct bonds with Uvarans. These magically charged and capable races almost always control the path and growth of Arta. Everyone is born with this bond and it often manifests in unique ways depending on the elements of the Uvarans they are connected to.   Certain "nuclear" class Uvarans are prevented from creating bonds with the races of Arta. Their powers have been identified as dangerous to the balance and preservation of life so they are isolated by Moyadeen and the Drua Order, the most powerful known Uvaran amongst those present on Arta, and her original right hand of druids.   Sometimes, however, these nuclear class Uvarans disobey this command and allow themselves to bond to beings on Arta in the hopes of seeing more change and excitement. When this happens it is often with younger beings, incapable of controlling the vast amount of energy that get targeted. This often has tragic consequences and leads to entire towns or cities being leveled in the accidental chaos of an unchained nuclear weapon. Thus, when beings like this are identified they bear the name "reapers" and are generally feared for their destructive potential.
