Yumon

Yumon is a country centered in a lush, tropical mountain area. Since it’s right under Arkhe’s equator, it’s warm, bright, and full of greenery. The mountains cut the country off from the rest of Rikea, though there are several mountain passes, one leading to the capital Kachari on the largest mountain. The closer you get to the coast, the cooler it is thanks to the ocean winds blowing in, and the bigger the towns get, with a few cities dotting the shoreline. The capital itself is a village nestled in the mountain Kaleza. The country places an emphasis on keeping tradition alive while trying to embrace the new as well, so that nothing is lost from the past, present, or future. They are also the only country that has practiced magical fusion properly and encourages its integration into what they do. Elementals are also alive and well in this country and hide out in the forested areas and mountains as they are protected and welcomed in Yumon’s society.

History

Yumon was originally founded by the leader of the lunar rabbit and flame dragon tribes which lead to the importance of elemental fusion within their country. Eventually they expended further into the forest until they reached the coast and built cities there.

Religion

Yumon’s respect for nature comes from their belief in the elemental gods. They say that the gods bless you with the magical affinity you are born with and if you wish to practice magical fusion, you have to pay reverence to the god of that element as you train to gain their favor. It is the people’s responsibility to keep nature in balance to keep the gods happy and prevent natural disaster and divine upheaval.

Foreign Relations

Yumon, and Laevina support each each other as allies. While Yumon does not have a standing army, they have a moderate sized navy, and very strong magic users that can provide aid to their neighboring country. They are each other’s biggest trade partners, and Laevina helps guard against unwanted entry into the mountain passes.

Agriculture & Industry

The biggest form of agriculture in Yumon is terrace farming in the mountains. A lot of rice, wheat, and other grains are grown there along with different types of beans and vegetables, namely tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash. Going deeper into the forest, it’s easy to miss the fruit orchards that are integrated in the environment, but tropical fruit are grown there as well as the country’s cash crop cacao. Smaller scale crop rotation farming is practiced closer to the coast as well that allows for more vegetables and spices, and there is a trade circuit within the country that allows crops from the mountains and the coast as well as fish and fowl to be spread throughout the country.

Trade & Transport

In Yumon, their main cash crop is cacao, but they also trade handmade gold jewelry, cloth dye, and a variety of tropical fruits. They try to maintain friendship with all trade partners for the benefit of the country.
