Veno'mia

The grey lands of Veno'mia sit upon the south-western edge of the Seddenese shell. The lands are dark, cold, and dreary as dark creatures exiled from the human lands of the east convene in one place under one flag. Veno'mia is a kingdom of monsters. Undead, aberrations, monstrosities, and any other reject from under the moon find homes for themselves here. The accursed, the abandoned, and the dark find themselves claiming land and rising to power.   The lands of Veno'mia are a frozen tundra, unwanted, and unused until the current and original queen of the dark emerged from wherever she'd been dwelling to proclaim her vision. A land, not that unlike Unity, that was a home. Not a home for those looking for peace, but for those abandoned by it. It's told that the queen herself is an ancient and powerful vampire with dreams of amassing an army, while others say she's an ancient dark witch who's immortality has left her bored. Either way, this place is a haven for the evil, even if not intentional. The gloom that hangs over the majority of the day protects those of the west who fear the light of day, while those who care less for the sun pepper the borders and coasts.   In the heart of Veno'mia is the great gothic city of Axel. A stone marvel home to the more sophisticated breeds of the dark. Vampire lords, lords of crime, and cruel fiends find themselves at the gates of this great city, at the foot of the Castle Ria, the queens personal residence. Though normal folks find themselves here as well, their lives are ones of slavery, servitude, and subjugation as their lords and leaders rule over them with terrifying might and an inhuman lack of relent.   Nearly a hundred years ago the queen stated her vision to be a home for the forgotten or unwanted, but seems to have made little effort to enforce law or quell the chaos that her particular audience causes. The monsters in-fight, the undead feast upon one another, and so on. Even with the accustomed anarchy, at her call, the monsters of Veno'mia listen, and her every word is law.

Culture

The people of Veno'mia have a surprising number of holidays and traditions, with the Mid-fall Feast where the monsters prowl on neighboring kingdoms and take their bounties as gift of their own, to the early springs Day of Rejection, where suitors compete for their romantic interests in vile contests and blood sport. These traditions tend to be twisted versions of normal Seddenese traditions, with days of love turning to days of hate, and days of giving turning to days of greed.

Foreign Relations

Veno'mia is hated and feared by nearly all of it's neighbors, having been a constant mark of aggression and danger on any map. Though, every attempt to take them down has failed. In times of crisis, the nation of monsters falls into an incredibly fascinating level of unification and synergy. Some say the queen uses magic to control them all, though others claim the presence is much more than just magic.   In recent years, the nation of Auburn has made positive moves towards Veno'mia. Sending out a direct declaration of friendship, claiming that the stronger nations need not hide to avoid the might of the masses. Though little politically has been done, the crimes of Locus have yet to go answered, and so his words only bring more eyes on him.

Agriculture & Industry

Many lesser folks from outside of Veno'mia sell slaves, weapons, and feats of engineering to the beasts of the dark, and in exchange they are gifted with many dark gifts. From curses like therianthropy or vampirism, to dark secrets, undead minions, or magical curses placed on enemies. The monsters and their evil are this lands primary export.
