The Khett Liberation
A brigade of renegade Church of Aroden troops decided to "liberate" the small desert nation of Khett from their sinful ways. The nation contained the birthplace of Aroden in the small herding village of Bylen, or so some interpretations of the scriptures claimed. Regardless, the area was cleansed and now lies under the rule of the Directive.
The Conflict
Prelude
The Edict of Tolerance - 8729 BL - The CoA issued an edict accepting that non-humans have souls and can, through faith and devotion to Aroden's light, be admitted to the grace of Aroden's Mercy. This caused quite a bit of strife within the church and many left the faith to form more strict churches still worshiping Aroden.
Battlefield
The Harasett River Valley
The Engagement
A raid that turned into a short siege. The Khett troops were caught off guard and those outside the city walls were routed in a single engagement. The siege lasted only three days, not nearly long enough for ally nations to muster and come to their aid. Once the walls broke the invaders flooded in and started killing. Within three more days nearly half the population was put to the sword or had fled.
Outcome
Slaughtering of the entire ruling caste. Mass exodus of non-humans as refugees. Forced conversion of all remaining populace to Aroden.
Aftermath
The nations economy is based on forced labor and military enforced law. Free social movement is rare. The Church rules all.
Historical Significance
A renegade faction from the Holy Order of Aroden declared independence from the Church for being too liberal. They took arms and fled the Holy Order, invading the nearby nation state of Kehett.Legacy
The Khett Alliance is created to retake the lands.
