Government
As the capital of Sarhólgahnúm, Yathenra is ruled by the monarchy, who handle what little administration is needed for the elven community.
Defences
The elves do not defend their community with walls like other races, instead relying on the natural features of the terrain as well as the communities semi-camouflaged nature to provide protection from invaders.
Industry & Trade
Yathenra doesn’t have industry. Instead individual craftsmen ply their trades and items are created as they are needed. Nor is there much trade, except with other communities, and even that is the exception, not the rule.
Infrastructure
There is little in the way of infrastructure in Yathenra as the elves tend to build their communities to be in harmony with nature. Apart from an occasional bridge the elven roads are difficult to distinguish from game trails, and they don’t build sewers instead disposing of waste in a more organic manner.
Assets
In addition to the assets of the forest Yathenra is located near a sizable silver deposit, which the elves are harvesting in their usual slow ad ecologically friendly manner. Further as the capital this is where the annual tributes received by the royal family is stored making it a storehouse of many art items.
History
Yathenra was first settled a little over a century ago, when the Anaphrimral family travelled to the Frontier Lands with a retinue of elven adventurers and established a small community as the center for a new elven nation. The site was chosen due to a naturally occurring clearing and its proximity to a silver deposit. A number of spring fed ponds nearby sealed the deal. In the years since its founding Yathenra has grown from small hamlet to a large city, primarily as elven settlers have migrated from Atánot and Dadmaynan.
Architecture
Elven architecture is designed to be in harmony with nature. Most houses are hard to see from a distance, built to blend int the forest background. Many are built in the trees. Public buildings are usually without walls, though ceilings often hidden in the canopy of the forest are used to keep the more extreme of the elements out. Elves eschew stairways preferring instead winding ramps to get from level to level.
Geography
Yathenra is located deep in the forest with ancient trees rising high into the sky. There are several small springs located throughout the community providing water for the many gardens scattered around. The land is relatively level and many of the building are located in the large vertoll oak trees themselves.
Natural Resources
In addition to the abundant game and flora that provides most of the food and raw materials for the many inhabitants of Yathenra there is a sizable silver vein located not too far from the community.
