Statuses

Here are a list of status effects that are commonly in play:   Addled: The victim cannot use techniques.   Blinded: The victim's Range is reduced to 0 and they take disadvantage on all actions that would benefit from seeing.   Compulsion: The victim feels compelled to act in a certain manner. Every time the opportunity for them to give in to their compulsion comes up, and they resist, they lose Spirit. One the first time, two the second, three the third, and increasing until their Spirit is gone, at which point they either have a breakdown as per the social rules or take a form of trauma and refresh their Spirit. Neither gets rid of the compulsion.   Cursed: The victim has terrible luck. Any time luck is rolled as the decisive factor, they fail automatically. Targets that do not use the factor die have a 1/6 chance of failing all rolls due to bad luck.   Exhausted: The victim is tired and cannot have Spirit replenished by the Empathy skill. They also cannot benefit from effects that would grant them an extra turn in combat. Many effects that put a target to sleep require them to be first exhausted.   Hindered: The victim cannot take both a move and a standard action; they must choose one each turn. They are also at disadvantage to any actions that require quick movement.   Sleeping: The victim is fast asleep, not able to take any conscious action other than resisting statuses. They will awaken the instant they take any damage. If they're asleep for one round or more, and their Spirit is less than half full, they replenish their Spirit until it reaches the halfway mark, rounded up.   Trapped: The victim is unable to move from the zone for a certain duration. They may still take other actions as needed.
