Irongarden

A pile of silt and mud sitting isolated in its own little patch of ocean. Early attempts at settling or colonising the island were met with failure as villages would find themselves sinking within days of being set up, and only the hardiest of crops stood any chance of surviving in earth that was almost more saltwater than it was soil. Considered worthless by all, it was sold for a very cheap price to the dwarves of Clan Neverbeggar. The canny engineers turned their skills to draining the island, delving deep within its foundation to hunt for ores and forming vast caverns and burrows beneath the sands. The flooding water was harnessed into turning wheels and powering gears, a source of endless power for dwarven craft. The island thought useless became a massive foundry for Clan Neverbeggar, and soon became their stronghold and base of operations for the wider archipelago. It was said the dwarves had tilled sand and reaped weapons, and so the island was freshly christened as Irongarden
