Iphigean Islands

A large group of clustered islands to the south-east of Neyris with their own language, naming conventions, pantheon and culture.

Geography

The Iphigean Islands are an archipelago within the Archipelago.
The North-Western islands, collectively known as Triton's Shatter, make up most of the landmass, comprising of Aeolia, Arcadia, the Epirian Islands, the Thracian islands, Achaea and the Argolid. The plains and peaks of these islands are occupied by many city-states who are always in a constant state of shifting allegiances and casual war.
The southernmost island of the Iphigean Archipelago is Minoa, famed for the wealth of its palace and the strength of its navy. The people of Minoa are widely disliked by other Iphigeans, a feeling not helped by the superior attitude many Minoans take when dealing with other islanders.
To the East are the Ionian islands, the largest of which is of Ilius. Up until recently the capital of the Ionian Islands, Ilium, used to be the most powerful and prosperous city-state in the Iphigean Archipelago. Twenty years ago while a guest of the City of Laconia a prince of Ilium kidnapped the wife of Laconia's King leading to a devastating decade-long war that Ilium and the Ionian islands lost.

Natural Resources

Iphigea has a few mines in which the rare metal Adamant can be found. Once refined into Adamantium this metal can be used to make the strongest weapons and armour. The trade of this resource is carefully controlled by a select few Kings and Rulers in Iphigea, and the secrets of working the metal are a closely guarded secret. In addition Iphigea is the only known location where an even rarer metal; Orichalcum, can be found. Also known as Red Gold, Orichalcum superficially resembles Bronze in appearance, but has qualities that are more akin to Adamantium. It is also one of the finest known mediums for Enchantment Magic making it highly sought for the production of magical items.
