The Carved Toy/Řesos

History

Animals and nature had held great importance to the K'aisi/Archipeligons. However, whilst fish held significance for food and connection, birds had their societies and horses were riding animals brought by Oryu/Oriu himself, other land animals do not have such a significance. However, a hunter is respected in all cultures and the The Archipelago of Seasons because taking down an animal takes a lot of work, and so stems a good luck charm from said hunting.

Execution

1. Carve out a land animal that is found within the nearby forest of the area. This carving is often made out of Rora wood, or the Maple trees found closer towards the river. If you cannot carve it have someone else carve it for you   2. Place the carved animal on the windowsill or onto your home shrine, then grab a weapon to find the animal to kill.   3. Once you find the animal kill it, so its spirit may inhabit the new carved animal. This animal will now serve as a guardian and a good luck charm to you no matter what and is used during the birth of a child. If you do this, you are said to have a child who will achieve great things.

Components and tools

Requires a carving tool to carve the wood into the toy and a weapon to hunt down the animal. A bow and a quiver of arrows are advised for such a task so that you have distance if the animal attacks. Sometimes hunters will coat the arrows in poison to kill the animal quicker, but it is ill-advised because poisoning the spirit brings in a chance of bad fortune.

Observance

The rites seem to be observed a few days after the knowing of a pregnancy, or an announcement of wanting a child with consent is followed. This charm brings good luck to those who wish to bear a child, and so a father will carve out the charm as soon as the pregnancy is known.
