Doveport

Doveport is a isolated backwater coastal village in a northern area of Bleak Reach. It was established three years ago and barely sustained itself.   The primary source of food used to be fishing the icy sea, until a priest named Amam arrived here 5 years ago. With his help a huge herd of Abraxis were domesticated. These animals became the source of food, both milk and meat. Their hides are used for clothing. The horns can be traded for materials that cannot not be acquired in the Reach.   The Salty Papaya Tavern offers little solace, as people gather to drink anything that can be brewed or fermented.   Traders rarely used to visit the place, as there was little that the people could offer to them.   Judica Attilia was the sheriff of Doverport. She was strict, but fair. She understood that everbody living here had done something that made them go as far as this forsaken wasteland.   People were fareful, and with good reason. The Wicked Obelisk loomed not to far - a supposedly cursed place, guarded by a giant monstrosity.

History

Things started repidly changing in Doveport with the arrival of a trading ship Sonarus. Onboard were three mysterious travelers - a diplomat Vincenzo Brazi, together with an archeologist Hannibal Murdock and their hired blade - DunCan McLoud.

They arrived to help a trader Ottavio Malatesta obtain the lands surrounding the wicked obelisk. They came into trouble as the priest Amam held the ground sacred and he had much of the townsfolk support.

But the new arrivals were tenacious. They caused enough chaos between the local bandit gang led by Vola and the Judica Attila. The trio enterred the Wicked Obelisk, followed by the towns militia. Only they three emerged from it, empowered with celestial powers.   Calling themselves the Spectres of Gigarium they took control of Doveport and its people. And the town started growing, rapidly. Hannibal helped to rebuild it.

Nobody seem to be able to resist the commanding presence of Vincenzo, following his instructions and revering him as a new leader and mayor.

A sizeable port has been built, capable of taking in several ships at once. And the trading ships started to visit it, including a large vessel called Ruota Che Brucia, carrying intelectuals, artists, priests and entertainers from the western realms.

DunCan seems to have an uncanny connection to the beasts of the Reach. They congregate around him and seem to follow his commands instinctively. The food was never more plentiful and the animals more manageble. They are now being used to power many mechancal instruments, such as pulleys, lifts and plows.
