The Line

As people begain to recover from the Fall, the cities of Avalon and Iram were among the first to recover. At that time, travel between the two was still very dangerous and even the best trip would take at least a week. King Travis II sought to improve this, trade with the port city being deemed vital. A great train was commissioned, and though he didn't live to see it, King Travis II is still credited with the creation of The Line.   This massive armored locomotive was ambitious, outfitted with heavy arms and armor to make the trip survivable, and even comfortable for the passengers. It also allowed trade to flourish, both cities becoming even larger hubs for their area and allowing the passage of good far from their origin.   Approximately a century after the first trip to Iram, a second set of rails was laid to the city of Mekann. Due to the danger of the Badlands and the damage that often affects the rails, if not the train itself, runs to Mekann happen no more than once a quarter, being proceeded by repair crews to ensure the transit is as safe as possible. These trips are also reserved almost entirely for cargo.   As it is run by the Kingdom, both passenger and cargo rates are perhaps surprisingly affordable and almost always run at capacity.

Power Generation

The massive engine car houses a heavily armored steam boiler that moves the entire train. Several additional generators are fitted to the exhaust, harnessing the waste steam to provide electrical power throughout the length of the train. As it is at it's heart simply a massive boiler that could use any sort of fuel to heat the water, the normal configuration is to use high-density liquid fuel (HDLF) in the arc incinerator.

Propulsion

The six drive wheels are independently driven by the steam engine and provide enough power to obtain a top speed of 40 MPH with 100 fully-loaded cars.

Weapons & Armament

The engine and caboose are both fitted with two 40mm cannons mounted in roof turrets, and a pair of side-mounted turrets with quad machine-guns.

Armor and defense

The engine boasts the most armor of any known mobile platform, consisting of multiple layers Vril-reinforced armor plates. The front glacias of the engine is reminescent of a giant axe, desgined to cut or smash through any obstacle or monster on the tracks. Even so, it routinely needs to be replaced as such event do occur.   The passenger and cargo cars are also heavily armored, and while they do not have any armaments they do notably have defensive positions on the roof.

Hangars & docked vessels

Two scout gliders are available, though they are rarely used and still not highly trusted by the crew. When needed they can be deployed with a tether and reeled out to a maximum height of 300 ft.
