Pearl Beach

Tourism in Arburg is as big as it is thanks to this beach. Its white sands are famous in other lands, along with the splendid sunsets that can be viewed from its shores. Legend has it that the the sand got its brilliant white colour from when Lady Asmye breathed over the coast of Arburg to bless it. Other people say that the sand is actually finely grinded pearls, hence the name. Why it really has that colour has not yet been discovered, though.
Several royal weddings took place on that long strip of beach, before the law was made that royal weddings were to take place in the Grand Hall of the palace. However, it still remains popular.

Geography

It is on the southern part of a long spit leading out below Asmye. On the northern part of the spit, the Port of Asmye can be found.
The waters there are very calm, as the beach is in a sheltered area. Long-shore-drift moves in a North-Westerly direction for most of the year, so the sand on the beach is plentiful and fine. The water is also very shallow, which makes it perfect for swimming out. The clarity of the water also makes boat rides out to the reef, which is a few kilometers out, very popular. A wide variety of marine animals can be seen in the water's depths.

Fauna & Flora

Sea creatures like crabs and small fish can be found, and Arburg's most beautiful seashells can be "harvested" on Pearl Beach. Sparse marram grass grows at the top of the slope, which is part of the reason that the beach has existed so beautifully for hundreds of years. Very little seaweed is washed up onto the beach, which adds to its naturally refined look.

Natural Resources

Sand, shells, and sea creatures can be found there, although civilians prefer not to work there in order to keep the tourist industry afloat.
