Silvergate
Resting along the coast, where the Oakrun spills into the sea, is Silvergate. The richest city in the Concord without equal, it's position makes it integral to all Concordian trade, capable of controlling the flow of foreign goods along with domestic. Spies, shadowy guilds, merchant companies, and commonfolk wrest for control of the city, their war wage in nighttime raids on the enemy's warehouses and secret backroom deals.
Demographics
Silvergate's streets and district are as meandering as the river flowing from it, with districts spilling in and out of each other.
Government
Silvergate rests beneath the power of, technically, a Concordian trust; in actuality it is more apt to say that the various heads of industry, wealthy merchants and tradespeople, run the city on the back of their bribes.
Defences
A massive, well-populated bay, replete with two circles of wall at sea and one twice their size at land. All manner of weaponry, metal and magical alike, reside within each wall. The gargantuan, silver-veined gate that guards the port is inscribed with every ward of protection and defense known by the Concordian colleges. Silvergate's geographical location makes it foolhardy to attack by land, and nearly impossible to take by sea.
Industry & Trade
Silvergate's primary source of income is, by far, the innumerable ports it is host to.
Guilds and Factions
The Plagiary, the Children of St. Elisteen, the Golden Consortium, Arist's Forge, merchants of all sizes, spies from every nation.... all can be found vying for control and influence within Silvergate. Whether through might, subterfuge, or coin, each faction and scheming merchant has their own plans for the city, and their place in it.
Natural Resources
Outside of a fleet's worth of fishing boats and ships, Silvergate only offers one, but incredibly value, resource: its location. Residing at the mouth of the Oakrun, where it empties into the sea, it is the optimal location for all trade entering and leaving the Arborvale Concord.
