Dragon Steel

A material found within the The Tombs of Conquest by the Allies Hand, Dragon Steel, or Dwarven Alloy as the party first thought it was, is a highly valuable and versatile weapon and armor making material. Its an inherently magical material which properties can change depending on how its processed. Simply melting it down and casting it results in an ultra hard, ultra durable material, which is virtually unbreakable. It also retains its decent heft when processing it this way, making it perfect for blunt impact weapons. When forged and cooled rapidly the dragon steel becomes relatively lightweight and has a decent spring to it, while also keeping its durability allowing it to retain an edge. This makes it great for making bladed and piercing weapons. Additionally, if you shape the metal at a low forging temperature, it becomes super lightweight, again retaining its hardness and shatter resistance, however it is difficult to form an edge this way, making this method best for forming armor.

The weapons made out of this stuff are amazing. It weighs and feels the same as steel depending on how its forged, but handles way better. And by the gods does it destroy whatever its used against. When striking with my lance its like the might of a thunderbolt tore apart the target. This power must be magical in nature, I will have to get my people to investigate this stuff. Maybe I shall see if I can find some more in the other tombs
- Garth Reigson
As mentioned this metal seems magical in nature, but its specific properties are relatively unknown as it has proven to be very resistant to research. What has been noted however in the weapons that have been forged for Garth Reigson is that it rends material exceedingly well, it seems to amplify any force exerted with it exponentially. For example when striking a solid steel breastplate with a normal metal blade, the weapon would at best form a scratch or dent but would usually just glance off. With a Dragonsteel edge however the blade slices cleanly through the steel, as if the blade had been traveling at unfathomable speeds. This is also a testament to the metals durability, as a normal blade would have shattered if it had to exert the amount of force that the Dragonsteel seemed to exert. The Dragonsteel also seems to effect force exerted onto it in a similar manner, seemingly nullifying the force exerted onto it.

This material that Lord Reigson has asked me to study truly is unique. It has clear magical properties like Adamantine or Mithral when analysed, but the specific magics within it continue to elude me, further tests within an anitmagic field are required. I do wonder what exactly it does with the energy exerted upon and with it. Does it absorb it? Reflect it? Amplify it? Im not sure. What I do know is that it makes extraordinary weapons and armor. The buckler Garth has made at Silverwatch for example, it was tested on site after production. Not only did it perform remacably in durability tests, the one holding the shield remarked that he could barely feel the impacts. This leads me to believe it absorbs energy exerted onto it to an extent. Further testing however against a horseback lance charge completely shattered not only the lance, but the lance head, leaving the stand the buckler was on barely moving. This could point towards non magical energy being reflected or at the very least diverted. Truly remarkable

Found within the Tomb's of Conquest, unknown if it naturally forms anywhere

Origin & Source

The origin of this metal is unknown. Whether it is natural or man made is unknown. Its origin is presumed to be magical due to its abnormal properties
