Kamerel
Long ago, the kamerel lived at the center of the multiverse. Now they don't.
The kamerel who live in Never-Odd-Or-Even are a splinter faction of their species who grew tired of living in the space behind mirrors. If they could have their way, no one would know about them, and they would never interact with anyone else. Fortunately for the kamerel, the inhabitants of Mechanus generally respect their separatist nature. Unfortunately for the kamerel, there aren't enough resources in Never-Odd-Or-Even to sustain their community, and that means making compromises.
Kamerels have pale skin, pointed ears, pointy teeth, and dark, unruly hair. Compared to the average human, kamerels are somewhat smaller, and more akin in height to elves. They are notoriously shy and will not acknowledge the presence of other sentient species unless circumstance forces the issue.
Of course, not many have actually seen a kamerel - they prefer to deal with outsiders through proxies. Despite this, the kamerel of Never-Odd-Or-Even have gained a reputation on Excursus for their mirrorcraft. Kamerel Mirrors are prized amongst the nearby cogs, and bizarrely, across the Conduit and throughout the prime world of Aquelle. This steady stream of business means that the kamerel can comfortably afford all the resources that they require, and that they can command premium prices for their goods.
Still, the kamerel view this enterprise as a necessary disruption of their unity and tranquility. Those who can snag a position as a kamerel proxy are paid handsomely to interact with them as infrequently as is possible.
"We are unhappy with your objective world, which teems with those who would pry, poke, and prod into our existence. Unacceptable. In reflection, we kamerel flourish unnoticed. It is a place everyone looks, and therefore, a place no one truly looks."
--Nan Itan, Provost of Never-Odd-Or-Even
