Order of the Eternal Flame
At one point a cloister to monks and priests who sought solitude centuries ago, this once-temple now stands as a small keep in the Dragontooth Mountains, northwest of Issonard, acting as the forward line and early warning system against threats both from the west and the north. Due to it's remote location and the prospect of finding absolution for ones self, over time some made the treacherous journey to live within the temple. All manner of mercenaries and knights who shed themselves of their inheritances would come to the Temple seeking amnesty from themselves and the gods for the guilt they carried. Overtime this slow trickle of men at arms, and the constant threat of beasts and monstrosities, would turn the temple in a proper fortified position.
The Order was officially recognized by the Empire in 247 B.C. and continues to function as a militarized religious sect to this day. While it is one of the newer orders that were established within the Empire, it is by no means the weakest. It's very nature makes it have a sort of enigmatic shroud about it and those who wear it's crest are looked at with curiosity, if anyone recognizes the crest to begin with.
The Order primarily takes in orphans and children from families who have no other option who are then trained in their ways, it is not unheard of an outsider seeking solace within it's walls as many did centuries before.
Structure
At the head of the Order is the Elder Flame and below him are the Paladins of the Order. Those who serve as soldiers are referred to as Man-At-Arms. Those not involved in warfare and primarily function as tradesman are Acolytes.
