A fork in the river.

Approaching a fork of the Chert river, the two leaders of the Salindre had a great argument. Koese, the thunderstorm, and Arael, the icy wind, stepped away from their people to speak on the top of a small grassy hill. Tensions were high- food and supplies were low. Koese believed that the best lands lay further south- his scientists and magicians (not real ones) told him that they would prosper beyond a second desert.   All they were told was that they had to cross a desert and come to the delta of a massive river. There would be large, high lakes in the direction the sun set and mountains behind them. They argued over which desert, which river.   Arael believed he had been spoken to by a god. That he was a prophet who was to lead his people to safety. Koese refused to believe in the very ideas that had driven them out of the homeland- the Norindre, who were religious.   The great argument ended and the friends did not bid each other farewell. Koese took off to the south, while Arael's followers followed the river.
