Brain Grooming

Synopsis

The new Angel Party leaders of Free Salgarmaar had a problem. Through spell and powder, they have taken over part of the country, but now they must secure their rule. Already, people begin to resist the military state they have in effect, and the army is questioning the party's authority. This would not do. First, the domestic espionage system was put into place, with great effect. However, some still resisted. In the face of resistance and inner turmoil, the Angel Party turned to one Manedica Docktor Abuld Al Ezzaren, who promised a solution. He had been developing a process he call "brain grooming". Using highly intricate tools made of red brass and an array of chemicals, he could rewrite and change how the brain of a being thinks. This allowed the party to create unemotional loyalists, who would obey them without question. This, alongside a veritable army of soulless Steelskins, created the nation as it seen today. 

Method

The exact process of brain grooming is known only to the Docktor Ezzaren, however through accounts of those who have witnessed the process give us a few clues to its nature. First, to the unconscious patient, three trepanations are made on the skull. One is on the front center of the head, on the upper forehead, and the other two are made behind the ears. After the wounds are clean and opened into the brain through the use of steel tubes, the Docktor uses red brass instruments to probe the brain within the tubes, taking anywhere between 15 minutes and 8 hours to arrange things to how he desires. After than the subject is restrained and awoken, and further probing occurs alongside the injection of various chemicals through injections with red brass syringes, gas inhalation, forced consumption, and flushing of the eyes. Throughout this process, various forms of hypnosis-like suggestions and orders are made to encourage or discourage certain behaviors. This continues until the Docktor is satisfied.
