Major language groups and dialects

Most tribes of Viðralfar can speak the shared tongue; however, each tribe speaks a dialect of a shared language. Knowing one dialect affords one the ability to understand others; however, some nuance may be lost in translation.

Viðralfar are highly matriarchal -- women are land-owners (in the tribes where land is ownable), business-owners, and leaders. Men, meanwhile, are left to manage defense of the tribe and the gathering of food.
